Clakk. Privacy Policy
Version 2026-10-08 · Last updated 8 October 2026
This policy explains what information GM Studio ("we", "us") collects when you play Clakk., why, and what you can do about it. We collect only what the game needs to run its online features. We do not sell your information and the game has no ads.
1. What we collect
When you create an online account and play online, our server stores:
- Account: your nickname, your account's login code, the invite code you used (if any), and when the account was created.
- Your game save: the save files the game keeps on your computer, so your progress follows you to other computers. They include your typing records (speed, accuracy, how you did on each key, which passages you have typed), coins, sparks, parts, keyboard builds, achievements, missions and season progress.
- Economy records: what you buy and open, box results, rewards and gifts, so coins and parts are checked by the server.
- Rank and leaderboards: rank points, ranked wins and losses, and speed test results checked by the server.
- Agreement record: which version of the Terms of Service and this policy you agreed to, and when.
- Matches: during a duel or speed test, the game sends your typing progress to the server in real time so the match can run and the result can be checked. Only the result is kept afterwards.
We do not ask for your real name, email address, phone number, address, date of birth or payment details.
2. Information we do not keep
- Internet address (IP): your computer's IP address reaches our server whenever it connects. Our game server does not save it. Our hosting provider may keep short-lived network logs for security and operations.
- Steam: if you start the game through Steam, the game reads your Steam name and picture to show them on your computer. They are not sent to our server unless you type that name as your nickname.
3. Other information
- Surveys: if you answer a survey on our website, we store your answers. Every question is optional. If you write your nickname, we can match the answers to your account.
- Typing test on our website: the speed test page keeps your results only in your web browser (its local storage). They are not sent to us and are not added to the game. To show where you rank, the page sends the speed of that one test to our server, which compares it with the leaderboard and does not save it. The page loads nothing from other companies.
- Unity: Clakk. is made with the Unity engine. Unity Technologies may receive basic technical information about your device, such as its graphics card, operating system and screen size. This is handled under Unity's privacy policy, not ours.
4. Why we use it
- to run your account and save your progress across computers;
- to show leaderboards, ranks, duels and rooms;
- to check coins, parts and records on the server and to stop cheating;
- to send gifts and help you when you contact us;
- to understand problems and improve the game.
5. Who can see it
- Other players see your nickname, rank, leaderboard results and duel results.
- GM Studio can see account data to run the game and help players.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts our server in the United States (Oregon). Your information is stored there.
- We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect players and the service from fraud or abuse.
We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete its data within 30 days. Copies in our daily backups are gone within 14 days after that. Survey answers are kept until we no longer need them, and deleted with your account if you wrote your nickname.
7. Your choices and rights
- You can play without an online account where the game allows it. Online features need an account.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account and its data. Contact us using the details below.
- If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, you also have the right to object to some uses and to complain to your local data protection authority. We process your information to provide the service you asked for and, for security and fair play, because we have a legitimate interest in protecting the game.
- In Australia, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) if you are not happy with how we handled your request.
8. Children
Clakk. is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Your account uses a private login code and a random access key stored on your computer. Traffic to our server is encrypted (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, so keep your login code private.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the game will show you the new version and ask you to agree before you keep using online features. The version and date are at the top.
